The CSB Experience: The Mini-Reunion (By Popular Demand)

Yesterday, we had a freecut on Comsk2 Lab because my prof went to a meeting. Supposed to be, we were to watch a movie of bulgar-speaking insects called ANTZ but then some technical difficulties forced us to watch it at home, thus the freecut. Oh yeah, in that particular Comsk2 class are DV1 grads Issi, Marlon and Camae.

Now, I want to go home early but a thought came to me that no one is at the house at that time (My broher is still at school by 1:00 pm) so I decided to stay for the time being. Although never did I realize that we leave our housekeys to our neighbors, so thank goodness to that.

......Cut short to 5:00 pm, I'm still at school and I'm hanging out with a sleeping Chris and a bright girl named Mandy (She lights up everybody's day :)) and fellow schoolmate named Andy (I got the name right?). Pax is having class as well as Issi, Marlon, and Ciz.

Around 5:20, Issi, MArlon and Czarlene went downstairs to look for us and have me, Chris and Mandy write something for a group activity for their Reconse. With them is a guy I knew from MMX's team building in Antipolo.

5:40 pm, classes are dismissed. Lots of students are coming out from their classrooms and I see Jane, Reynalei and Katriz walking and I wave a hi to them (That's just soooo nice!:)) Issi, Marlon and Pax all went to Plaza V to hang out in the hut where me, Chris and Mandy are at.  stayed a little while longer so I could ensure that by the time I leave, someone's at the house already. Chris is using Mandy's laptop (with Vista) to check something on Itunes.

Meanwhile, nightfall came and Carlo came into the picture. He borrowed Mandy's laptop as Chris left the hut to do something really important. As it happens, Carlo checked himself into Friendster, and then Multiply. While doing that, we saw Gilbert and Mikee. Gilbert saw me and he felt silent. He wnet on saying "I missed you..."....Nah, just kidding, we already sa each other a few hours back.

Quarter to 7 in the evening, I have to go home. Seen a lot of DV1 lately including the Rm m508 TH class during 3:40 whcih comprise of many DV1 people. By next year, we'll all have a get together for our second recollection.

Before anything else: Hi Gilbert, you just read what is now your 55th blog.

The CSB Experience: Sama-Summer Na (The road to Summer classes)

Following that very heartbreaking news of me not passing Algeb last term, I had no choice but to drop my enlisted Bmat2-x from my 3rd term sched since I really have to pass this prerequisite. So far so good, I'm okay now with ALgeb since my professor there is the same one from last term's Algeb except it's at the AKIC and all are quite.

Just last week I found out that the enlistment for summer will be held this week so I took no time to spare and had myself enrolled in it. But that was before I knew that something horribly wrong will took place.

First, I can't seem to access my CSBInfo account as I can't log in to CSB's intranet nor the CSB SIS (Student Information System) so for a whole month, I've been coordinating with the guys of the ACTC to find out what wrong with the problem. So far, I'm not the only one with this problem. All I get from accessing are the messages "you account has expired" and "...can not log you in...". Oh darn! By the time of the pre-enrollment for summer, I have to do something for me to get access to my SIS account so as a last minute measure the ACTC guys had my existing password replaced with anew one I made. That surely did the trick but I sure wished that they would ahve done this a lot sooner.

And when I thought everything was all okay and on going, I found out that the subject which I want to enlist which is BMAT2-x (Business Mathematics 2) is nowhere to be found on the enlistable subjects in my SIS account. I asked the Office of the Registrar for help and they couldn't give me a reason why such a thing happened. I explained that I was supposed to have Bmat for this term but I have to drop it to retake my Algeb since it is a prerequisite for Bmat. My Bmat on the other hand is qualified to be my back subject since I didn't took it for this term as it was wreitten in my course flowchart.

To make the long story short, the Registrar said that they'd enlist my subject for me. Oohh, talk about special case! :):):)

So I guess all's well that ends well............................or is it?!

With One Last Call, There's Magic (a.k.a. Sais Tres Uno Bokya Otso Nueve Nueve)

Since a few days ago, I was trying to call them using their number 631-0899. There are times that the line is busy while there were times that it is but in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Using my cellphone, I've been calling up so that I'd be able to talk to the DJs as well as havinga 15-second round of fame in radio, hehehe. They do answer but because i'm very nervous on actually talking to them on my cell, I quickly hang it up waaghh(Plus, I don't have much load left in my cell to talk anyway! )

Some of the programs that I've called so far are the following: Good Times With Mo, CJ and Sarah, Boys Night Out, and Mid-Day Play. I feel embarassed since most of the calls that had made it through I had to hang up since I don't really expect to have someone answer given that during most of the day, telephone hotlines of FM stations are all clogged up so there's less a chance for one to get through.

Well at least, by the time I got home yesterday, I try to call Magic again for one "ast" time and guess what? Sarah answered my call but too bad it didn't make it on the radio as they just playing a song. here's how it goes:

Sarah: Hello?

Me: Hi, Is this Magic 89?

Sarah: Yeah it is. May I know who's calling?

Me: I'm James...Uhm it's my first time to call...

Sarah: So how's it going James?

Me: Just got home

Sarah: Got home from work?

Me: Nah, I just got home from school...

Sarah: Okay, thanks for calling James :)

Me: yeah thanks!

That's what happened I guess last night. I can't get over to the fact that a DJ actually talked to me. I better do this more often :)

I'll have a violin recital this coming March because I'm part of my alma mater's music school (St. Cecilia Music Studio). I'd be playing two pieces, one classical, and one modern pop.

The following video is confirmed to be one of my pieces, Minuet 1 by J. S. Bach

Updates soon... and pray for me...

The CSB Experience: Meet Me At The Hotel Lobby

from kumanta.com

"Meet me in the hotel lobby
Everybody's looking lonely
Watch me as i walk in slowly
When your eyes meet mine
It's in the mirrors of the hotel lobby"

The CSB Experience: Uniformity

What do I wear on a typical school day? A plain t-shirt, a pair of jeans or long shorts, a pair of sneakers and that's all to it. What does some schoolmate wear in a typical school day? A long pair of black pants, a pair of clean "croc" shoes, a white "polo" shirt with a CSB logo on the left upper pocket of he shirt. What does another schoolmate wear in a typical school day? A polo shirt beneath a dark-coated blazer with a fairly acceptable skirt with leg-wearing stockings and high heel shoes that are perfectly polished.

It's a surprise that CSB is not what you expect from a Catholic institution with a liberal-minded student body. Some wearing uniforms, others wearing formal attire, and others wearing "normal clothing". It turns out, the school, for which many have thought has no existing uniform dress code, does have such.

Later did I figured out that most of the schools of CSB have their own set of dress code (By the way, CSB have a dress code policy on what not to wear applicable to all students just so you know). If what I heard is correct, SMIT and SMS (School of Management and Information Technology and School of Multidisciplinary Studies respectively) students are required to wear formal attire although there are days were they can wear semi-formal to civilian attire (smart casual to casual). SHRIM (School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management) students have required to wear formal on certain days of the week as well as uniform attire (uniforms varies by year and major track). On the matter of CSB's SPaCE (School of Professional and Continuing Education) I have no idea as well as SDEAS (School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies). Good thing is that we from SDA (School of Design and Arts) doesn't have such a code.

One reason probably is to instill the students from these certain schools a sense of professionalism in preparation of whatever career they may take in the future. That may be the reason why as early as their freshman year, students are required to obey their respective dress code. Too bad on the part of my fellow SHRIM friends, they told me that they weren't told by their seniors of this dress code being implemented and many had a hard time adjusting since they expect that they get to experience life without wearing school uniforms, or so they thought.

From a non-uniform wearing student's view point, I feel kind of alienated whenever I'm around with uniform and formal-clad students, especially in classes where many of my classmates are from SHRIM and SMIT. I always think that these students are more proper, more organized and a lot primmer than us from SDA (Or so I thought) as well as a whole lot smarter.

I contrast, those from SDA are somehow encouraged to be liberal-minded, wear anything they want to wear, reshape their hair whenever and be themselves. That's why I see many who wear: emo, goth, rock chic, rocker, urban, sport-themed, plain, outrageous, etc. from head to toe. On my part, I tend to wear green-colored shirts but now that I think about it, its getting kind of creepy for me to wear green all the time. As I write this, I'm wearing white for a change.

Although I'm speaking nonsense here and feel kind of bias, I can't blame myself since that's how I think. Hopefully, time will pass and I would have a different point of view towards people wearing dress code-enforced attire. Especially now that I'm getting to know some of them in my classes, hopefully I'd be able to overcome it.
