There have been few instances of me getting lost in unfamiliar territory but most of the time I don't. It has been a habit since childhood for me on going to unfamiliar places, places I haven't been in my whole life, nor been there for a very long time.
I've made great progress with this experiment, having been in the deepest depth of several cities in the Metro, at least well within the radius of the North and as of late, Manila and pocket's of Quezon City, Makati, Mandaluyong, San Juan, and Pasay.
At the same time, I somehow developed this kind of "third sense" wherein my sense of direction is as sharp as McGyver's keen eye for available alternate material. Kinda like some sort of a 'human compass'. I know when I am lost, but I know greatly when I'm not. I also take note of jeepney route plying in a certain area even if I'm not that familiar yet with that particular route.
Finest example I guess would be the one that happened early this afternoon. Me and my NSTP groupmates were out looking for the ERDA Development Center found near Siena Colege-QC and the Del Monte Ave.-Banawe Ave. intersection. Despite only having limited clues as to how we could get ourselves there, we manage to get there with the help of some people we asked along the way. We were able to gather some clues and I was able to slowly piece them together.
Clues are the following:
1. We are to drop off in Araneta Ave. after passing by two traffic lights.
2. Turn to where the nearest Caltex gas station (we saw two) in Del Monte
3. Look for Siena College
4. Find Linao street before crossing Sta. Catalina street.
Eventually we did find it and after fulfilling our reason of being there, the question now is this: How are we gonna get home?
Of course, we don't want to walk our way back to Araneta because it's too darn long. However, I saw a jeep plying by, en route towards Munoz (aka Munoz Market in QC near EDSA-Congressional Rd.) and his route was TAFT/BUENDIA-MUNOZ so I figured we could ride a jeep en route to Manila by waiting on the other side of Del Monte.
We did and the rest, they say, is history.

Asthma Attack No. 3
I already have my suspicions since yesterday. At first, it was the red nose-causing cold I had last Tuesday, then the next day was the sudden dry coughing (Wednesday). Just before going to sleep, I began coughing out sticky fluid secreted by the mucus membranes (go figure, it's too gross).
Today (Feb. 5, 2009), I had difficulty breathing. That's when I suspicions led me to conclude: I'm having an asthma attack again.
Even if I knew that I'm already suffering having an attack, I don't want to tell my dad (who's at home) and my sister. Especially my dad, who would yell like "yadayadayadayadayada..." with his sermons and calling me "stupid" again for the nth time.
I went to my pediatrician in Palasan for a check-up and after the diagnose, he told me that I was suffering from my asthma. To help relieve myself from my breathing problems, I took this drug that is supposed to be inhaled through the nose by way of a machine.
I calmed me down, then I was given a prescription on what medicines should I use. I know from that point that I was to go back using a ventolin-induced inhaler.
Now, the problem now lies on keeping my surrounding clean for me. My room is defintely guilty of being dusty. I don't have the time to clean my room in whole but probably during the summer, I'll be having one of my "spring cleaning" days in order to get a lot of things thrown out from the room so that there'd be little need for daily cleaning.
What's uncontrollable though would be the elements found outdoors. Smoke belching coming from the vehicles, people smoking wherever I go, and dust coming out from nowhere.
Now that's where the inhaler comes in handy once I bring it to school :D.

The CSB Experience 2: "Take Time to Read: Help Iggy Villanueva fight against Leukemia"
You might not know him, but might somehow; you already bumped or saw him around the campus. Even I don't know him personally; just recently I just knew he was once my classmate in my NATSC13 class back in my frosh days, which I infrequently noticed him because he is usually to be found together with his co-athletes at the backside of the classroom. Iggy Villanueva(ID 107) is a full academic scholar, an athlete, and a graduate of University of St. La Salle-Bacolod in his secondary school, He was diagnosed last January 6, 2009 with an ACUTE MYELOGENOUS LEUKEMIA. Just in little ways, if you're interested to donate blood just proceed to SAO-3rd floor Solomon, and help in the fund raising campaigns allotted for Iggy, purchase any t-shirt merchandises, ballers, that can be found in this site "iggy's friends"
A letter from iggy's mom
26 January 2009
OUR DEAREST FRIENDS…
I am so embarrassed to do this yet, I am humbling myself to ask…please read on…
January 6, 2009 was the worst day of my family’s life…our eldest son, IAN GABRIEL PICART VILLANUEVA, was initially diagnosed to have ACUTE MYELOGENOUS LEUKEMIA. It is already the 20th of January, and after a 2nd and even a 3rd opinion from different doctors, the diagnosis, sadly is still the same: ACUTE MYOLOGEOUS LEUKEMIA. To aggravate things even, he even has pneumonia. Thus, chemotherapy cannot start just yet. Untreated, he just has 4 months to live…
Treatment plan for Iggy includes at least 3 rounds of chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant! To date, we have already moved from 3 hospitals. Currently we are at National Kidney & Transplant Institute to save on cost.
Though we may belong to a middle income family, the medical expenses that have and are to be incurred is so staggering! The amount needed is about 5 Million …thinking of how many zeroes the figure has makes me want to give up...But I know I wont and I cant! I will do anything or everything to save my son to the best that I could. Sad but true, I have nothing…Whatever is left of our meager savings has all been used up. Time is essential. The bone marrow transplant will be performed 2-3 weeks from now, and I need funds to deposit before any treatment can be done.
I am literally alone…Its just Iggy & myself in the hospital. Friends & relatives come to visit but I cannot compel them to do more. I am a one woman army. Thank God that I have the laptop and my mind as a weapon…
Iggy, is a well rounded individual who I can say is an achiever. From grade school to college he is very athletic: red belter in taekwondo, track & field and basketball. An honor student from pre-school to college, a leader in his own ways.
As a mother, it breaks my heart that such potential should go into waste…He is so young…IT IS MY MOST FERVENT PRAYER THAT YOU BECOME PART OF THE CYCLE OF HEALING…IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE. I HOPE I AM NOT ASKING TOO MUCH. HUMBLY I AM ASKING ANY HELP THAT YOU CAN EXTEND MY FAMILY. WHATEVER MEANS WOULD BE MOST WELCOME. I may not be able to repay your kindness and generosity in this lifetime…but I am confident that God knows…
I am realistic enough to understand how difficult life is today. I am not asking for total dole-out. If at all, any of you are willing to loan me…I would forever be grateful. I promise to pay, although little by little, with interest even. Please…This is already a desperate cry for help… I just cant imagine what is to be…
May I also request continued PRAYERS THAT IGGY NOT GIVE UP, HOLD ON AND BE STEADFAST IN HIS WILL TO LIVE. Likewise, prayers THANKING FATHER GOD FOR THE HEALING.
Thank you very much for taking time out to read this letter. I know in my heart that you will be able to help me and my family one way or the other. May the Good Lord always bless you and your loved ones.
Respectfully,
VIVIEN ‘BENG’VILLANUEVA
Mother

My Own Movie Franchise About Evil Nuns
This one came floating around my head for years already, out of the boredom in the middle of a dozy Calculus class back in high school. It's a set of films about evil nuns which I wanna produce when I become a bigtime filmmaker known for making hit low-budget but critically-acclaimed movies.
Although, there's already existing films that goes by that same concept, mine's different. It's a 30-film franchise and every installment is titled after some popular films, but tweaked to suit the mood of the movies, fitting for the "evil nun" concept. This is all for fun :)
The franchise's slogan is: "Pray Again..."

The CSB Experience 2: Tripodiamus
A late late entry but I'm gonna write about it anyway:
For week 3 of Fotogra, Ms. Ofrasio gave us an introduction to the wonder tool that is the tripod. I forgot which brand it was but the units currently available at the 10th floor SDA are plenty in sight.
At first try it was a bit difficult. I have to remove this certain piece and have it attach to the camera's bottom and later attach the whole thing onto the tripod. I also have to constantly adjust the "legs" not only because I have to use it to obvious purposes but also because I have to bring it wherever place I want to take my pics with.
However, I didn't maximize the tripod the first time I used it, thus when my CP#2 came out, I noticed that some of the pics taken (with aperture set between f/22-f/16 and shutter speed is below 1/60 per second) are blurry. That's when I decided to use the tripod for most of my newer set of pictures for CP#3.
Getting into my creative side last Saturday, I took pics (this time, the aperture is set between f/2.8-f/1.8) that are extremely out of the ordinary thus it became less frequent to just hold the FM3a (even if shutter speeds of 1/125 per sec allows me to do so) and more on using the tripod. I'm hoping that this time, the quality of pictures would turn out good, despite "re"-shooting 24 pictures using a Konica film (which I know will turn out bad, unlike my usual use of YKL/Fujicolor film rolls).
What made me happy right now is that a family friend gave me as a present this really neat 2nd-hand Sony remote-controlled tripod. It's essentially a tripod but, it is has RC capabilities that are compatible only with Sony cams when used.
Nevertheless, I was inspired to do this sort of photography trick that one of my friends would do when bored :):).
