Retro Spective

I noticed that quite of a few of my contacts are putting up retrospective entries on their Multiply websites so I thought it won't be bad if I had one too, other than the last one I entered 24 hours ago.

I told you guys last time about me being able to find the time to organize my old high school pictures in my photo album. Well, there's more to it than that. Yesterday, my mom was the first to initiate organizing all the photos that haven't been placed on photo albums. I was able to see pictures of me when I was younger. Man oh man, were those the years!

Hitting the road down memory lane sure fill me with loads of good memories. I admit that as a child I was a bit bratty, a bit spoiled, a wee bit hyper, and a kina hysterical at times. When I'm happy, I'm happy. When I'm sad, I'm sad. When I wanna laugh so hard, I laugh. When I wanna cry out so loud that the world may know that their being unfair to me, I do. When I wanna be destructive, I'd gladly do that (as a child, I could unlock a padlocked door using a plastic pole combined with loads of childhood adrenalin :P).

Embarassing, yes. But not as embarassing as those pictures of myself doing those "pa-cute cute" faces. I do a "pogi pose", a "happy" pose, and a "smiley" pose, whenever I'm front of the camera. I think that trait is still alive within me, I do get a bit hyper every now and then. I don't think there was ever a picture in my first 10 years of my life since the development of my consciousness that I don't smile like there's no tomorrow.

What's surprising though was that I also observed that I pretty much gained weight, or in short: grew fat, starting at age 10 onwards. It peaked I guess until high school when I reached a hundred and sixty pounds. But between comparing how I looked like when I was in 3rd grade and in 4th grade (take note: one year apart!), I grew from being thin like a skull as shown in a picture of me visiting Barosoain Church in Bulacan for his annual school field trip to an inflated oval-faced chubby boy with glasses visiting the Manila Zoo as part of his 4th grade field trip.

That reminds me, I'll be celebrating 7 years wearing glasses. January 5, 2001 was the time when my mom decided I should finally wear glasses after suffering for almost a year being unable to see things clearly from afar (me reading in the dark ala Jose Rizal right in the middle of a typhoon surge greatly contributed to that). I've already changed eyeglasses for about eight times already. The most number of changes would 2 back in 2001 and the shortest possible tenure "recorded" would be the one I bought in Ilocos last April 2007 until August 2007 (during my course card distribution).

Starting in high school, that was when I slowly faded from the pictures taken for social gathering of my age group and quickly made a niche taking pictures myself. The "unofficial" photographer in my batch, using my trusty "old reliable" Fujifilm Coolpix, TPaS Olympus camera, and not-so-reliable Nikon Finepix throughout my four years in high school.

By the time I got to college, I realized that I cannot be the kind of person that I was in high school. Although I don't find it necessary to drastically change who I am, what should change is how people would wanna perceive of me as a person. In my early childhood, I was the "iyakin", in SJA I was the "goofy-naive-akala nila taga-US siya" type of guy (I don't know if that last one still stuck on those who still view me as such).

Thus, I decided I should loosen up a bit, not feel so isolated from the rest of society (pero di ako emo kailanman, ha?), open-minded more , and take the serious side out of me (unless it's necessary on things that should be taken on a lighter note. Maturity comes with age, and I guess that I'm already in that process of being one myself.

Learning things from your past experiences make us appreciate life more. From the bridges that we burned down there wil arose new ones being built while wounds inflicted from hurt may have healed, a scar will serve as a reminder of what it used to be, a scar.

I guess, all I want to say is that life is mysterious. Family, friends, events, tragedies....all of them shapes a person into who he or she is. Looking back, I can't help but remember that the things that made me smile, cry, embarass, sad, feel humilated, and all those other stuff made me a better person if not the best. I know that there's stil a long road for me. Nevertheless, I'm ready to face it as I exit memory lane in order face a brand new day.

Thanks!

Montessorian≤Thomasian≥Jamer (It's A Small World After All)

Hehehe, nakakatuwa ito...

Kagabi, nagYM sakin si Ellemaj. She asked me if I know a certain 'Kat Rigodon' and I said "yes". No, make that "Si 'Payat'? Oo!".

That could only mean that Jamelle Santos (Ellemaj's real name), who also happens to be an USTe girl, is classmates with Payat! Hehehe! Then again, Jamelle's not the only Montessorian in UST. There's Michael, Cheenee and her kuya, Raphael and at the same time, a lot of Jamers like Katrina who are attending in this royal and pontifical university. It cannot be help if destiny brings these two groups together, konektado sa kanilang pagkakilanlan sa akin.

Next thing I know, I'm making friends from the people of Notre Dame....Oh, wait! I did! I have friends from Notre Dame who knows Felipe and Kenneth! :P

Pictures from the Days of Our Lives

I decided to clean up my room a bit after seeing what a mess it was. I was also planning on throwing out some old things I had since the time I came home from abroad 6 and a half years ago. Unfortunately, the things to throw out accumulated throughout that time and has proven to be a very difficult task to do. I have to dispose my broke 6 and a half year old Bombay drawer among other things.

But at the same time, I took this as a perfect opportunity to organizing my old high school photos and placed inside an album given to me by mom about 2 years ago (left untouched until now).

I then began to dig through my old stuff too look for those photos. I was able to found most of them but unfortunately, I can't seem to recover some of those taken during my 1st and 3rd years in high school (Banahaw field trip and Biak-na-Bato trip respectively) as well as some Intramurals pics taken way back when I was in grade 6.

So far I have these photos taken during my year in Saint James:

Grade Six: Intrams pics including the one with Maviel in it, the one with Rob and Ms Zamora in it (uhm, make that two), and the assembly of pre-school kindergarteners gathering outside at the school grounds. Add to it is a photo of me, my siblings and my cousins just before we march on to my late grandmother's wake at Concepcion, Malabon.

1st Year:  Pics taken during Intrams, including a 13-year old version of me: fat, chubby, and unphotogenic. This was when I gained notoriety of taking a lot of pictures on events like these.

2nd Year: This one was no different. Pics taken during that year's Intramurals. They include the vain pictures of Maan, Onang's critically-acclaimed artwork, and the popular freign exchange Louie Beltran boy, Raymund Anderson.

3rd Year: Besides the usual Intrams pics was the Araw ng Wika celebrations, which covers the contest wherein sections of all levels decorated their respective classrooms with the best depiction of any Philippine province assigned to them (ours was Pampanga's Best). Oh yeah, that happened to be my birthday, the worst of my then 15-years of exsiting in this world. Condoling picture: the one taken from you-know-who. :D Best intrams pic would be the "magpinsan" photo taken from me and Louie! Yey!

4th: Grad pics. It was during this time that I switched from my Olympus TPS (traditional point-and-shoot) camera to a Fujifilm Finepix digicam and later, a Nikon Coolpix L2. I'm planning on printing some of my digital shots since those taken using a digicam could get lost easily. At least a photo lasts a lifetime (by way of negatives).

Microcosm: Payat, nakilala mo na pala si Ellemaj/Jamelle! hehehe!

Takipsilim Hoax Theory Proven to be True

I joined this group called "Twilight Fans Against Takipsilim" which was created in protest to the alleged remake of the popular Twilight saga which spawned a movie version based on the first novel, "Twilight". Before ABS-CBN News Online made an official statement about why them pulling out their article from their websites saying that the network acquired the rights to make a local television adaptation based on the novel series. Here's my conversation with the group's moderator on Facebook.

Have we been had? ABS-CBN seemed to have pulled out the article on their news website.

Theories:

Hackers got into their website and pulled-off an elaborate prank.

Strong opposition from Twilight fans scared them off (I rather like this one).

What do you think?

My theory: Someone started this hoax as an online joke gone wrong. Somehow, a writer from Yehey.com saw the joke as real (basta lahat ng chismis, totoo daw para sa mga entertainment writer ng Pinas), and had it posted on their website. That article of his was read by members of the websphere and ignited mass hysteria to fans and non-fans of twilight alike. News reached the ears Popular websites like PerezHilton.com and RyanSeacrest and reposted it on their webpages, making people to really believe that it is in fact true.

Somehow, a writer for ABS CBN News Online may have had read the article and had it published online without hesitation.

But that writer may have also realized that it may not have been true after al and had it pulled out from their website.

The good for nothing writer of Yehey, who didn't even verified the news when it first broke out if it was true or not, tried to clean up his mess by stating in a follow up article that none of the alleged cast members even knew that there was a twilight remake and that cory vidanes, a top honcho of ABS declared that the network is not remaking twilight at all. nagmamalinis para ipamukha na hindi siya part ng pagkakalat ng hoax.

The hoax has already gone haywire, making PEP to believe it as true, but no major article with regards to the false remake was published except on a sidenote in one article stating that Rayver was supposed to be in a TV5 show but didn't continue because "he was cast in a remake of twilight".

The people concerned should take responsibility and apologize for such irresponsible journalism. Major loss of credibility for the ABS-CBN online news site - what kind of news website posts a news article based on rumors? Tayo naman, seeing it written in what was supposed to be a credible news website believed them.

We, the fans are blameless victims here. Our reaction is an "overreaction" only in the context of the news being a hoax - which until ABS-CBN's recent denial, was real, credible news to us.

ABS-CBN, how very disappointing.
