The CSB Experience 2: When Thoughts of Shifting Surfaces

Well, this is a rather low-down. I think there comes a time that there's a point in your lfie where you ask yourself "Tama pa ba ang ginagawa ko?" or "Tama ba ang napili kong 'to". that's when you knew that the word "shifting" comes in handy.

I for one don't really approve of seeing my colleagues shift to another course since they already made a choice in the first and they have to with it. But given their reasons, they do have a point. I never knew that the 'shifting bug' would catch me.

Now we have this report in Hartds-1 and somehow, my professor more or less congratulated our group for a well-researched material despite having some flaws. A Korean classmate of mine who in the group also congratulated plus he made compliment of of my knowledge of the matter. Then I joked around with another classmate that where I said thatb "where I lack in practical creativity, I get back with artistic intelligence" and we were just laughing. But all of a sudden it hit me.

Then something came up and I was like "I'm good at knowing things", "...But I can't do what my 'ka-course' can actually do". Yeah negative thoughts really bring me down. All my words may seem typical from an Art Management student, I reckon.

I asked myself, "What will happen if I was an AM student? What would that be like? Hmmm....". It was so not like me to say these but if given a second chance, then maybe I culd excel at being an expert in the arts.

But no. I refuse to do so. Shifting is far from my agenda in college. ABMMA is still the best course and I'm just having sophomoric blues. I hate it when people experience that!

In one way or another, the clever fool shouldn't be discouraged. Yeah!

Left Out~A very emo poem

Left Out

...*bow*...

I.

When I step foot on this place

I knew that something's new is gonna take place

A sense of wonder and mystic

But never realized, I'm not being realistic.

II.

I try to join this, I try to join that

Hoping that I could be something that I am not.

I try to fit in, I try to get along

But somehow I get bump along the road

Got a rift with two of my blockmates

Seen by others as an irrate.

I never lost faith in keeping myself sane

as I try to be the one and the same.

III.

Adjusting is a very hard thing to do

Especially if the're things that you will have to bid adieu.

I knew that my ventures had bore nothing

Even from the moment I left from their wing.

IV.

There's one I see then as a role model

but realized that it is not, oh well..

A proper goodbye would've been okay

But they let me go before I had something to say.

Their lifestyle I cannot conform,

A lifestyle I ran away from.

V.

I envy some of the people

Who have, who play, and who knows;

As I never realized that there other things in store for me

I made myself believe that I'm nothing more but "nothing".

I began to think things in the negative

But  need to wake up to see things clearly and positive.

VI.

Depressing as it may sound, I try to put myself together

For sure that such things don't last forever.

Things may come and go,

But for life, it isn't so.

I know my time will certainly come

And for sure I won't be left out.

THE END

The CSB Experience 2: Crime Scene Investigating Operative (CSIO)

[Note: This is serious]

Yesterday was a rather tense day for me. I don't want to accuse anyone who was caught redhanded for taking something away from me by way of a CCTV footage. But right now I'm close to pursuing the person identified for alleged stealing.

Okay here it goes. Around 12:30 pm, I logged myself out of PC-8 in comlab Rm. A1002 (SDA building) because of hygienic reasons. Then I came down to the 9th floor in preparation of my 1pm class. It was only there did I noticed that my I-pod was not in my bag and completely forgot that I brought it out earlier to download some file back in 1002.

Believing that I was only away for a few minutes, at 12:45 I came back but my Ipod was nowhere to be found. I asked the technician at the MLO if they found an item left around 12:30. They said i should come back around 2 so i could ask one of them who wasn't in the office that time. 2 pm came and I hurriedly came back to the MLO but they have no clue about the whereabouts of my missing item.

2:30 pm came and I have an hour and half hour before my next class would commence. So I tok the opportunity to investigate further. I went to the GAS Office upon the recommendations of the MLO but from there I was sent to the OSB to check if ever someone had found it and had it surrendered at the lost-and-found of the OSB. At OSB, they don'tt have any record of such. I almost gave up by hopes were raised when they said I should check out the people manning the security cameras installed inside the comlabs.

To the MLO again I go and there I was able to gain access to the raw footages they recorded from the time I left 1002. from what I've observed, there was one who came in just as I left 1002. "He" logged himself on PC-16 which is across the PC I just used. There, he was swinging his chair and came across something near the area around PC-8. He swings himself more then stand up and went out of the room. Moments later, he came back in and took that he saw andput it into his bag. he logged himself out, left the room but that was before he took another thing found near PC-8 (My USB cord was attached with my I-pod so that was missing too). There, we saw the culprit, next phase: identification.

I asked the technician (Mang Rene) if he could  check the names of students who logged in and out from PC-16 between 12:30 to 1:00 pm. From there we narrowed it down further from the time I logged out to the time the suspect logged himself out from PC-16 based on the footage. Finally, we identified the name of the student. I won't say the name but what I can tell you is that it's not a "he" but a "she-he". Currently I aired my complaint before the SDA Security Office and the OSB as well. As of now, they will try to contact with the suspect for questioning and present before her evidence of the alleged stealing.

I have no intention of filing a case against her unless I am sure of her intentions of taking the item, whether she would have it surrendered at the OSB's main office back at Main or keep it for herself. I really hope that I'd be able to get through this.

Frustrated

I have a lot of reasons to be frustrated, from natural to man-made disasters, from the obscure to the geekiest things on earth. So I'm writing out all my frustrations to get it all off my mind.

1. Valenzuela's still submerged in water, but less now than yesterday. But in classic fashion, it'll be my subdivision that'll be the last one to have the floods subsided, probably taking 2 months or so, depending if the lowest parts of the neighborhood will be affected by neighboring high tides from Malabon and Obando. TAGAL!!

2. My dad drove me, kuya and my little brother to school. When we had him dropped off in Bayan, boy was it one heck of traffic jam in Leon(y)o Street. That streets leads directly out to R-10 "faster" than the side road along the Navotas side. It took a good 15 minutes to declogged the jam causedd apparently by a lazy old traffic enforcer, credits goes to this one cop who danced to untie the knot the other guy caused. When we finally got out from that mess, the lazy old coot was still doing his job, making :kaway-kaway: to "tell" the vehicles to go along (Boo!).

3. Along R-10 in Navotas, much to my surprised that along Manila Bay (near the Navbotas Baywalk) lies a capsized ship. I wonder why there's no sign of the police nor even the Coast Guard surrounding the area plsu no media attention. I guess, not every thing as urgent as the one in Navotas are given due importance as I thought it should. Then again, they should.

4. Cursed Hartds-1 assignment plus report plus Philien report. I didn't slept at all, I finished working around past 1 pm but my mind was still awake until it finally rested for 4 am (an hour really). yet I was still not finished: I have to print my draft for the Philien poetry report, print my pictures of illuminiated manuscript. Unfortunately, I ahd mine made in Vista and our printer is installed to our old XP which doesn;t recognized old English (blame on the administrator nthingy started in XP, limiting other profiles to install software programs). I had my other homework printed at sime shop near school. What made all the work that I've done for two days worth it was that I didn't stink when our group finallyn reported (well only Hyun-ho and me anyway). What i lacked in practical creativity, I amde up for artistic intelligence (for two days I studied everything about Romanesque, Byzantine and Gothic).

5.Cursed reliable SDA restrooms. All the restrooms at SDA's west wing are all out of order , closed maintenance (maintenance my foot!). So i have to go the restrooms in the east wings for my cotstant relief operations. What's worse, on my last class, the "now" nearby east wing restroom at the 10th floor still doesn't have freaking drinking fountains! AGHHH!

6. Pests keep on bugging me:period:!

7.Two of my favorite radio stations are experiencing developemnts at fast of a pace than I could imagine. First Campus 99.5: Zack Attack a.k.a. the former MigZ with a Z of HiT FM officially resigned fromk the station effective yesterday (Araw ng Maynila) with a short-minute guest appearance at the Brewrats. The guys at PEx are already talking about this incident, since many thought the tension after the HiT "flip" was long over. I'm just happy that Campus retained handful of the jocks of HiT including two shows, David's House and the Brewrats. Well I guess we were wrong. Well, good luck for MigZ and the rest of the ex-HiT Squad still in Campus.

8.Here's another, this time in 103.5 Max FM (geek na ako sa radyo waghh!): a)Favorite soundtrip while I commute my way home from school, Back In the Day Cafe, will be shortened to just one hour from its suual three slot of 6-9 pm to an 8-9pm slot. Why?, b)Johnny Z, one-half of the Technoboys(@ Night) is resigning as well due to work conflicts possibly brought by the recent 12-hour slot switch with "Kellybites Nights", place Drei&Jay at the 9-12 mn slot, a bad move I foresaw from the start. And what's really surprsinig is that Migz said that he'll be surfacing soon..I smell something fishy. (I can't believe I'm actually saying these words. Am I that an avid listener of radio?)

9. I hate the SDA ACTC for blocking users in the comlabs to watch videos from youtube. Why?

10. I hate those pedicab drivers who not only operate illegally in Taft, Pablo Ocampo and Leon Guinto without a license plate, but think they own the streets! They mark their territory by spitting to the ground where workers and students walk. They even harassed outgoing LRT commuters coming down from Vito Cruz station to get passengers. Why!!

11. I hate the barkers of Monumento who try to convince passngers that there's still room in an already-crowded jeepney. Ehhh, it's already hard to find even  the slightest of avaiable sitting space, eventually having yourself ended up on someone's "$%^&%*" (inspired from Beerkada).

There!

The CSB Experience 2: My First Manila Day Holiday/Weekend

Yup, believe it or not, ngayon lang ako makakaranas ng actual na Araw ng Maynila kasi last year nahulog lang yata ito sa isang weekend so wala rin. Buti nga lang ngayong Monday eh walang pasok. Meaning more time for me to do my homework.

Actually three things to do this weekend: Philien Powerpoint Report about Poetry this Thursday, sa Hartds-1 eh gagawa ako ng "Artwork" na illuminated manuscript iyung parang medieval na Bibliya atsaka isang powerpoint presentation rin para sa Hartds-1 tungkol naman sa Medieval art and architecture simula Early Christian to Byzantine to Goth to Romanesque.

This is not the kind of Hartds-1 I would have imagined taking, good thing I have only less than 7 weeks to endure this $#!%.

Happy Manila Day na lang!

The CSB Experience 2: My Concept of JoseRiz Finals Project ~slash~ Movie

Title: "Mga Munting Pangarap ni Pepe"

Rizal the "doctor", rizal the "writer", rizal the "lover", rizal the "womanizer", rizal the "husband", rizal the "son", etc.

Title: "Pepe's Little Women"

Theme: The many women of Rizal

Title: "The Pepe Game"

Theme: Q&A's about Rizal

Synposis: Isang Game show titled the Pepe Game is a guessing game/quiz show. Bawat contestant. Dapat alam nila lahat ng tungkol kay Rizal by filling in the blanks and a wheel of fortune-like letter guessing game. Winner will win a trip to Avenida Rizal corner Blumentritt St.

moved the credits at the end of video. Ung mga pics ng SDA. filler pa lang habang wala pa akong nailalagay na ad placement/logo ng ad/product proper. Reasons why i wrote 35 seconds under Time kasi that's the number of seconds of the actual TVC minus the beginnng and the end credits, not the overall

5 Things You Won't Expect From Me

5 Things that you won't expect me to do:

  1. You won't expect me to text you back from my cellphone I don't always bring my phone when I'm at home.
  2. You won't expect me to wear colored shirts at home expect for the color white.
  3. You won't expect me to totally come in late when meeting at some place. I usually come on or before the prescribed time.
  4. You won't expect me to be awake beyond 1 am unless necessary.
  5. You won't expect me to not wear any other colored shirts besides green every now and then (I have green shirts all too many).

The CSB Experience 2: Meeting Up With the Omani-raised Girl from Oman

It was last year, May 23, 2007 where I first met and talked to a fellow 107 MMA frosh. I remember we were seating next to each other while the frosh orientation was about to commence. Ever since my block was called out, the last thing I did was waved her goodbye. I remember the meeting I could no longer recall her face. I already said to myself that I may never get to see her for a very long time given the circumstances hehe. The only thing that will m ake me recognize hern is that she's from Oman, attended Philippine School-Oman and that she was telling me about something concerning DLSU.

Fast-forward to June 11, 2008. BASICOM class had just ended and me and classmates were about to return our borrowed laptops to the AV Room at the 10th floor of SDA. While there, many fo us were talking about animes aired when we were young. Then one of them said, "The first anime that I watched was 'Samurai X'...". We were like "What? 'Samurai X"?" yeah, I was surprised too. Asked why she didn't watched anime earlier than that, knowing that Samurai X was aired way when I was like 10 years old. Prior to that, they were a lot of animes that were shown like Gatekeepers, Akazukin Cha Cha, Bubu Chacha, etc.

She answered something like "Ah, we don't have ABS nor GMA in Oman". I never heard her say Oman the first time but she reiterated it that she was from Oman. "Oman?" I said. Something just came in my mind that time --->*"Oman?"*<---. I'd be a fool if I don't ask her this, so I was like "You wouldn't happen to be from Philippine School, would you?". "Yeah!".

And it all came together, 'I think I know you...from the Frosh Orientation?". Looks like I wasn't the only one, "Yeah, I remember your face from somewhere..".

Wow! It's been a long time but who could've guessed that were classmates in 2 classes (the other one was Joseriz)? Who would have knew, 'no?

Hu...Hu..Emo muna ako

Discreet mode

It's not that I hate them or anything but the mere fact that they are now there without having been around and, suddenly appeard where they were elevated to what they are now? It  simpy implies that no amount of service to the higher up would be enough to bear any fruit, only to find out that all efforts are but a  waste of our time. It is biased, unfair, and without any considerations at all.

Reality and Dreams: Riles

Gonna make this very quick....

So okay, I had this very weird dream early Tuesday morning. Weird indeed.

1. Rail along McArthur-First sequence, I was in someplace similar in McArthur Highway. I was riding with someone on this "for two people-only" electirc scates gliding down on the railway which somehow looks a lot like a roller-coaster as we swing back and forth, fast and slow, up and down. And I felt like I was screaming like crazy as I holding a pole as I stand (I have nothing to seat in there by the way. Then we stopped somewhere in the Malinta section of the highway. Then a conductor from a train behind us dropped by and asked us to ride on the train itself than rather risking our very lives on this highly fatal death-trap.

2. Onang's Cradle-Next sequence, I was inside a room, all grey and shadowy then standing on the wall is Onang and his band of brothers (sila rin ba?). And they were singing mushy emo love songs. Why am I having these strange dreams? I don't know.

3. She Lies Next-Last sequence, I was standing next to this popular girl I knew back in high school. She was lying on the floor along with her circle of friends. They were all wearing the school uniforms and as they lie there, they all raised their right legs and they were all singing. One of them invited me to tag along. I did but in a 90 degrees angle, forming an "L" of sorts. really, even my dream counterpart is finding all of these all weird, out of the ordinary and increasingly creepy for every sequence that followed.

The Rise and Fall of 107.9 UnderGround Radio back in 2006

I saw this blog from Friendster which I find it very interesting to read. Please note that this was written around 2007. Today, it is now known as 107.9 U-Radio (They can't use 'Underground' anymore since there's another station that goes by that name, 105.9 RJ Underground Radio)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Source: http://profiles.friendster.com/uradio

A pirate is a radio station that tries to be heard over a relatively large area but operates without benefit of a license from the government. This is the story of the rise and fall of a pirate: 107.9FM Underground Radio, as it came to be called.

It began several months ago when I happened across a review of the Tugicom FM-25 PLL FM stereo broadcast transmitter on the internet,a low-powered unit meant to be heard over a short range. "Own and operate your own FM stereo broadcast station," the review had said. Wow! I thought, my own radio station! Actually, I had been thinking about doing something like that for some time. Always fascinated by the mystery of radio communications since a was a child, one of my earliest questions as a kid was, "Dad, how does the music get from where that man is playing it to the dashboard of our car?" (I think he mumbled something about phone lines.) The technical challenge of doing it myself had always been there.

Radio: Elevator Music
In recent years a second reason for putting my own signal on the air has surfaced: Most of the programming now out there on the radio sounds like noise to my ears. Radio has become less important in my life because of that. The compressed and boring music (not to mention the commmercials and stupid trying hard DJ's on most stations) that comes out of my radio has become tiresome. I now only listen to radio while driving, and then only with the radio tuned to a news station. I've "tuned out", preferring to listen to music on my CD and mp3 player insted.I began to think there might be others out there who would like to hear something unconventional.

In all of my musing over the months,I have always considered FM was to complex and the cost would be to much. I had visions, I guess, of the early days of FM and the convoluted phase and serrasoid schemes that were necessary to produce high-fidelity modulation in a era before high-speed digital dividers and linear variable reactance diodes made directly-modulated synthesized exciters were commonplace. Upon reflection on new this new technology, it began to sink in: Of course, FM is the perfect choice! FM is for people who like music! The challenge was now irresistible.

The Station
So,I puchased the tugicom FM-25,(25watt FM transmitter)and designed and built my own antenna, attached a CD player, fired'er up and jumped in the car to check out the range. That little transmitter sounded just pretty darned good to my ears - at first. But I hardly got to the end of my town before its tiny signal fadded out. I also noticed an irritating buzzing in the audio and some strange noises that seemed to be coming from the CD - they were keeping time with the music. I can do better than this, I thought. From that moment I was hooked. I began an almost month-long struggle to get the signal out beyond the borders of our town and to clean up the FM-25, a struggle that turned into a happy addiction and a 5month life of crime.

Several antenna improvements were also made that first month. The system progressed from a homemade omni antenna to a giant 40 foot 4 element folded dipole made of aluminum pipe designed and made by me and mounted on a 125-foot tower in the back of my house. Range was now almost to the edge of the whole Metro Manila with just about 9 million souls, and I was having great fun. I played mostly club music..It was a blast.

But i never got the fm-25 to sound as good as I thought it should,So I bought a new transmitter. This time it was Broadcast Wearhouse MPX3000,(30 watt FM Transmitter)which had been featured in an article in an internet website. The MPX3000 was perfect, however. It had a strange 9 dB boost at the extreme bass end of its audio response range, and stereo separation and balance was very good. Also, that "dead quiet" was marred by a high-pitched whistling sound heard faintly in the background. In the next few weeks I made quite a few improvements to it mostly capacitor value changes and the tightening of resistor tolerances. The bass boost problem and the high-pitched whine were traced to problems in the unit's loop filter.

I also added a subtle modulation limiter circuit in the audio path between the mixer and the exciter. The purpose of a modulation limiter is to protect the transmitter from being driven into distortion by a too-loud audio signal, a condition very easy to encounter with high dynamic range CDs. Also, the typical mixer board operator's tendency is to bang the VU meters into the red in an attempt to sound as loud as possible over the air. The limiter allows the operator to indulge this proclivity without over-driving the transmitter.

The result of the improvement effort was highly satisfactory: The MPX3000 checked out at 0.1% audio distortion on a high-quality modulation monitor.Stereo Separation came in at better than 55 dB at 1 kHz, and noise was too low to be measured!

I also jacked up the power again, from 25watts this time to 300 watts, using an amplifier i purchaced from Ebay. The modification was no easy feat. Fortunately, I had access to a spectrum analyzer, and a high power dummy load for testing,to make a long story short, the result was impressive. The second harmonic was some 65 dB down and spurious emission and higher-order harmonics were non-existent. In other words,It was clean and perfect!

The station was now quite satisfactory from a technical standpoint and the choice to operate in the FM band was definitely the right one for the situation. The signal easily covered most of metro manila and beyond,Coverage was still a little spotty on cheap radios, however, so I began to lay plans for an increase in power - to 1000 watts. But it was not to be. 107.9FM was building to a downfall..

The Bust
As it turned out, there was someone in the radio industry who cared, and he cared very much. The owner of the local legally NTC-licensed FM station had been monitoring us and had decided to take action. I received a call from them one afternoon. Not knowing I was the perpetrator, the station owner explained the situation and asked if I could help him track down the guy. I almost came clean right then and there when I replied that I already had a very good idea of who the guy was... but would rather not identify him. The station owner then said that he had been in talks with the NTC and that they were "cracking down on this pirate station." Trying very hard to control my voice in this unreal situation, I said something to the effect that I would "talk to the guy" and could almost guarantee that he would shut down. Thanking me, he ended the conversation.

And that was how UnderGround Radio died without a whimper. Well, yes, there was a whimper. We went on the air for a short time at exactly 12 AM the following night with a tearful farewell.

A few days later I stopped in at the local station and, still operating in lying mode, told the owner I had "talked to the guy" and had been assured that his operation had ceased. It was at this meeting that I gained a little better appreciation of the owner's point of view. Basically it was this: He operates by the rules, pays his dues - thousands and thousands of pesos,it turns out, to something called a Regulation Fund, and to ASCAP (this money goes to local recording artists) - and of course, he's a businessman and makes his living from his radio station. He saw the pirate as taking food from his mouth. I quizzed him a little about whether the pirate had been interfering with his signal and, more importantly, on whether he considered the pirate to be a serious competitor given the fact that the program format was so drastically different. No, the pirate was not interfering, and no, he said with a bit of a chuckle, the pirate's format made absolutely no difference in his view. He then made it perfectly clear that he would be in contact with the NTC if the pirate's operation continued. We shook hands and I left, feeling like a jerk and a fraud..

A day or so later a Man. (I will not mention his name) and he was calling from the National telecomunications commision. He asked if I knew why he was calling. I replied that, yes, I did. He asked if I knew who the pirate was up there? Yes, I did, but would rather not say. Did I help construct the station? "Well.. yes," I said. Then.. "Aw hell, I may as well come clean. I'm the pirate.."

There followed a long, friendly conversation in which he tried to get as much information about our station as he could: What was the power? Where did I get the transmitter? Details of the transmitter's construction? Had I checked it on a spectrum analyzer?(yes) What sort of antenna? Were we making any attempt to conceal the antenna? (No.) What hours were we operating?(24/7) How long had we been on?(5months) Would I PROMISE not to operate anymore? (Yes.) Would I consider destroying the equipment? (No.) Would I sell the equipment to some other pirate? (No.) Who was that guy on there? (Matt Montoya) Did I know the station had been picked up 100 kilomiters away? (No), I thought it highly unlikely.)

I asked him a few also: Does he enjoy tracking down pirates? How many pirates does he track down a year? (i guess none coz im the first and only one in metro manila), We finished the conversation with him saying that he'd be sending an official warning letter. I said I'd frame it and put it on the wall.

I'd spilled my guts to the Heat. What a relief!

And, true to our word, 107.9FM Underground Radio has been silent ever since. Cold turkey..

But, no regrets...UnderGround Radio Will Live Forever...

We are now back on the air at 108MHz FM with a new owner and under new management from a super secret location in Metro Manila...So what you all waiting for tune in now to the best club music station in the country!!!

The CSB Experience 2: The One Hundred Sixty-Peso BUFFer Lunch (Stress on the "buff" to make it sound more French-like)

I was having my super expnsive lunch at the SDA Caf, costing me over Php160.00 with matching C2 Big and 50-pesos worth of a pair of sandwich. I was seating next to Mandy who was entertaining her fellow colleauges probably from her classes. Mandy introduced me to one of them and I said hi to them. She, with Chris, had to go somewhere so sheleft me with her friends as well as bags from Yana and Hoogie.

So these guys were talking about all things FREHAND this and FREHAND that. Suddenly the guy in curls (forgot his name) asked me if I experienced it too (inconvenience of having Frehand classes in a not-so-desired classroom). I said "Ah, I don't have Frehand yet...". As I was dragged into their conversation, we were talking topics ranging from MMA to Porn to Soft Porn to Cruel Intentions.

That's where one my classmates, Jorge I'm guessing, came into the picture. He's a friend of Kervin who is blockmates with Jus. He's a classmate of mine in Joseriz and Cathwor and often see him wearing a cap and being with his friends during class. He (obviously he knows them too), compliments that I have a very peculiar choice of words during class. Flattered by his comment, I reasoned out that I'm sort of a history buff, a "walking kodigo" kumbaga in high school, and a misunderstood "know-it-all" right now in college (an image I want to change). He believes that that there's nothing wrong with being a know-it-all. But really, it's very nice of him to say good things to a person.

As the 160-Peso lunch conversation dragged on for the next 30 minutes, we talked about national politics, from who is the worse president of the country (Marcos?) to the best one (the guy in curls said Carlos P. Garcia, while went for Diosdado Macapagal), to the state of economy then and now. All of that completely (pls some Filipino phrases) in English!

I'm really looking forward to meeting them again since having a conversation with them really helps clear away the emo college blues. Now that's a complement!

The CSB Experience 2: How I Met Your Buddies (And Others As Well)

I don't know what's happening but I'm meeting a whole lot of people from left to right, right to left, and in-between. New people, not-so-new people, and friends of friends whom I haven't met, and friends of friends whom I haven't heard. plus friends of friends of friends as well as friends of friends I see but never greet and meet and became classmates with, hehehe. :duleng:

I'm being discreet so baka malito kayo. If you could let me mention some names, I would.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last term I met two of Mandy's buddies, Andy and Yana.  All I can say is that they're fun! then there's Coco, Jeff's high school BFF (joke!) who is very lively (I bore you aren't I?). then I also have this classmate which is the girlfriend of a firend of my schoolmate who is also the blockmate of my other classmate in my other class last term. Then there is a set of friends of my acquiantances taht I have known since last term for which their unique individuality is their greatest asset. Confusing, yes.

Right now, I just met many of :toot: (and friends)'s  friends from her (and theirs) other classes, and we just had a very intelligent conversation when I had lunch at the SDA caf. Meanwhile I am also classmates with the boyfriend of my ex-classmate who is also the friend of my schoolmate as well as the blockmate of my other ex-classmate. Meanwhile I'm also classmates with his friend who is the buddy of my previously mentioned set of friends. A former classmate from last term is also buds with the aforementioned and we're all in one class.

Meanwhile my classmate from summer class is also my classmate for this term. He knows one of my former classmates from last term who is also my classmate in two classes for which us three are in one of them.

My co-member in MMX is probably a blockmate of one of my friends as well as classmates with my other blockmates last term. He's my classmate in one class and we got along well. Now my two-pair buds also have this classmate whom I've met while making tambay at the Caf.

I'm finally classmates with many of my co-members of MMX who are friends of my blockmate's co-alumnus. They range from the frequent participants of MMX activities to the frequent cosplayers during one of MMX's events.

Hagggh! Nakakalito naman 'to! Pati ako naduduleng!

In Blumentritt sein das erste mal/Being in Blumentritt the First Time

I went to this place in Alejos corner Retiro in Laloma, QC this afternoon to check it out. In order to get there, I have to ride a jeep in Blumentritt st. down in the Blumentritt LRT station. I have heard of Blumentritt so many times, including its namesake. Tim Tayag, during a stint in Lakbay TV, even went there to eat some puto.

The section of Blumentritt between Avenida Rizal and Leonor Rivera Street is crowded with pedestrians and outdoor vendors. There's an existing jeepney route there but because of the cramped space, that particular section is now one way. Imagine Blumentritt minus the pedestrians, the vendors, the trash; it really has a lot of space. I wonder why that part came to be.

Probably the root cause was the line of squatter colonies which used to occupy a stretch of the old PNR line (now demolished for the PNR rehabilitation). Mismanagement, poverty, bad aura coming from the design of the LRT Line 1, mixed zoning (industrial, commercial, residential), and bad governing from past Manila city mayors had but reduced Manila's former financial center (all areas surrounding Avenia Rizal) into a polluted, poverty-stricken urban jungle!).

I'm still hoping that by the time that whole PNR line (Northrail and Southrail) is fully rehabilitated and modernized, good development will come to these areas such as Blumentritt.

Things That I Wanna Do, Things I Wanna Learn

There are some things that I wanna learn and there are some things that I wanna. And yet I can't, that's the problem. I don't wanna say for the nth time about factors and all those :toot!: why I can't seem to do what I wanna do.

What's most ironic is that people around me were able to do those stuff :waghhh:. As I write this I just realized that I've already said all my "hinanakit" on a previous blog post so try to look on that.

Things I dream to have and hold and learn:

1.Own laptop (either mac or windows)

2. Learn photoshop and harness its power to use its full potential

3. Finally have myself my own professional SLR camera and and learn all of its hidden secrets (My dad used to have a Nikon SLR since before I was born. But he had it sold a long time ago).

4.Be good at personalizing my own website

5. Unlock the secrets of Multiply

6. Join a group of talented people (other than MMx, I'mcurrently eyeing DLSU Pops Orchestra)

7.Possess good skills in drawing (gotta read that book about good drawing my mom gave me last christmas)

8. Learn the basics of photography (gotta reread "DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY: tricks of the trade" all over again :):) )

9. Tap the hidden mysteries of Dreamweaver once again (Florante and Saladin again)

10. Nawala hehehe

Photoshop Pictures (made before the previous album was posted)

proto-version and it still sucks....I really do need to remember what I learned. grr....

Reality and Dreams: Singkwentay Sais, When History Repeats Itself

I have another Reality and Dreams moment when I felt as if history repeated itself once more.

It was almost more than a year ago when a foreigner driving a car approached me while I was on my way home from school somewhere in Hulong Duhat (Hulo 4 short). He asked for directions on where to go. First thing I said to him that he mustn't drive at the road he was in because he's going the wrong way and it is a one-way road. Second, I told him the route on where to go to Monumento, which costed me a lot of English to say that he needs to turn left out to Gen. Luna Street just before he could go pass the Aglipayan church in Concepcion and turn right to Gov. Pascual straight. Third, I told him to ask any traffic enforcer to help lead him into his destination.

Now for this time around, I was walking distance away from my subdivision: Just got out from a jeepney I was riding on, crossed the street and simply walk my way home. Just before I did that, a silver SUV passed by and stop. The window from the driver's side opened and, turns out, a foreign wearing a turban called me out and asked me for directions.

Turban Guy: "Hey...Do you know where Polo Mercury Drug is?"

J: "Yes, you need to drive straight that way (pointing at M.H. Del Pilar Street) to get yourself here. You'll see a sign that says 'Mercury Drug' at the side"

TG: "Ah OK, is it not the one over there pointing at the opposie direction of M.H. del Pilar, meaning the other Mercury Drug along Acacia, Malabon)"

J: "No it's not..."

TG: "Is this 'Arkong Bato' (pointing downward)?"

J: "Yes, this whole area is Arkong Bato, you will have to go in that direction (pointing northward). You'll end up in Polo. You know you're there if you see a church, a plaa and a marketplace..."

TG: "Thank you very much!"

J: "Your Welcome!"

And there you have it! What's next, a Dutch tourist?

It is very interesting to see "who" your friends are!

(10-16 points) You are Garfield:
You are very comfortable, easy going, and you definitely know how to have fun but sometimes you take it to an extreme. You always know what you are doing and you are always in control of your life. Others may not see things as you do, but that doesn't mean that you always have to do what is right. Try to remember, your happy spirit may hurt you or others.

(17-23 points) You are Snoopy:
You are fun, you are very cool and popular. You always know what's in and you are never are out of style You are good at knowing how to satisfy everyone else. You have probably disappeared for a few days more than once but you always come home with the family values that you learned Being married and having children are important to you, but only after you have had your share of fun times

(24-28 points) You are Elmo:
You have lots of friends and you are also popular, always willing to give advice and help out a person in need. You are very optimistic and you always see the bright side of things. Some good advice: try not to be too much of a dreamer. Dreaming too big could cause many conflicts in your life.

(29-35 points) You are Sponge Bob Square Pants:
You are the classic person that everyone loves. You are the best friend that anyone could ever have and never wants to lose. You never cause harm to anyone and they would never not understand your feelings. Life is a journey, it's funny and calm for the most part. Stay away from traitors and jealous people, and you will be stress free.

(36-43 points) You are Charlie Brown:
You are tender, you fall in love quickly but you are also very serious about all relationships. You are a family person. You call your Mom every Sunday. You have many friends and may occasionally forget a few Birthdays. Don't let your passion confuse you with reality.

(44-50 points) You are Dexter:
You are smart and definitely a thinker... Every situation is fronted with a plan. You have a brilliant mind. You demonstrate very strong family principles. You maintain a stable routine but never ignore a bad situation when it comes. Try to do less over thinking every once in a while to spice things up a bit with spontaneity!

Now don't spoil it! Have some Fun!! Change the subject of the email to what you are and send it on

Media High Life - Philippines

To future journalists out there, you should learn a thing or two about the evils of sensationalism gripping Philippine Journalism. This video was made more than tem years ago but te situation still hasn't changed...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Feb 1996
Rough, raw and competitive - that's journalism in The Philippines.

TV Patrol, the most popular Programme leads the way with sensational stories and starstruck scandals. Imelda Marcos, overthrown a decade ago, is now a big Filipino personality. She even cracks jokes about her shoes. Chris Aquino, daughter of Cory, is Manila's answer to Oprah Winfrey. Much to her mother's disgust, she delights her audience with a kiss and make up session with Marcos's son, Bong Bong. Father Jim Reuter and journalist Sheila Coronel are among the few dissenting voices who call for a more responsible media. But with its new found freedom, it looks like the media will continue to rebel for some time yet.
