The Summer Experience: The Day of BMAT

Business Mathematics is the "highly-followed" sequel to the hit Algebra-x. It is more into, well, business things and it now involves money in Pesos. I don't really know what to expect. I never have high hopes that I could ace this one as I did to Algeb which I retook. One thing though for sure is rthat I won't spend the whole of my summer vacation learning Bmat as I'm still going to have one anyway. From April 22nd (not April 21 as I have mentioned way back) to May 16 Friday, yehey!. So I still have four days of summer vacation.

My Lec prof is Dr. Nocon and Lab's Mr. Antonio. they look harmless and they are very good at teaching :):):)

I hope I won't get bored this summer...

The CSB Experience: Foreclosure

There's so much for me to tell about my first year in CSB but I wouldn't be able to tell them all in just a single day considering that today is my last day as a frosh in CSB. So as to formally close The CSB Experience's first year with a grand slam, I will put summarize versions of my intended blog posts to put it all in one single blog.

1. There's a First Time in Everything
-Darn, if I only I had known that my online test in Reconse would close at 1pm sharp on Wednesday April 16 then I should have took it earlier.

2. Si James at Ang Mahiwagang Foodshop sa AKIC (James and the Secret Foodshop at AKIC)
I took the opportunity to go the hidden foodshop at the 8th floor and gave myself a food trip that I'll never forget! Ang sarap ng pizza nila!

3. Si James at ang Mahiwagang Kubo-kada (James and the Magic Hut Gang)
-I now have a reason why I should make tambay on Plaza V. I'd get to hang out with my friends who woould spend their C-break in Bora (PLaza V.). I also learne dthat I could make take-out on dine-in orders I made whenever I buy food from the Caf.

4. The Road to Bright Lights (A Love Story to Remember)
-It was a GR8 MARCH 28, 2008. Mediamax was to held its annual Bright Lights whcih is an awards show for outstandning MMAers. This is the only org event that I actually enjoyed (plus the out-of-town team building we had earlier). That is because we spent months of long preparations and a whole lot of hard work. Because of our teamwork, we were able to pull the event off.

5. Four Thousand, Five Hundred Fifty Four Minutes
-Looks like I'd get to have a school-free vacation after all. I learned that I'd be able to have my BMAT summer class from the 21st of April up until May 16 only, 3 hours and 20 minutes a day, six days a week. 2 hours of Lec, and an hour of Lab with a 20 minute interval in between. If only our Ilocos trip would be at the 17th until the day before class starts then should I really enjoy my summer.

6. many Friends so Little tym
I'm wishing the best for them. I will miss them a lot.

7. Thinking of Publishing
-Because I've made a lot of posts that are under The CSB Experience, I'm thinking of making a compilation books of all the posts that I've made throughout the months that The J-Blog Files have been in existence.

8. The CSB Experience (The Beginning) (A thought)
-Just a thought. I've been wanting to  make a post about how I got into CSB from the the time I took my entrance exams that was held more than a year ago. Just so I could complete them all before May 21st.

9. Not Yet The End of Year One
-Although the this post's title is "Foreclosure" I still need to write one more blog before May 21 just so I culd formally conclude The CSB Experience. I'm also thinking about making a transitory series based on my BMAT summer experience  as well as starting my TCSBE Year 2 series so nothing's final as of now.

10. Jenny From the Taft
-All I can say is "JENNY IS SCARY!!!"

The CSB Experience: La Primera Semana Final

(April 13, 2008)

Nakakainis kasi habang sinusuloat ko ito eh wala kaming connection sa DSL nor do we have a dial tone coming out from our phone! So Right now Im writing this piece on Microsoft Works Word Processor para lang may masulat lang ako.

(April 13, 2008)

I did gained a good number of friends there as well as re-meeting an old classmate of mine from high school, ang ever makulit na si Ali na isa nang SHRIM/student-athlete.

What most surprising though is that because of my familiarity with Ms Algebs past lessons, she told me one time that I improved a lot. I no longer had a bad time trying to comprehend these difficult equations nor do I see the necessity to compensate myself from any embarrassment after days failure in a quiz.

Kaso hindi ako over-all nage-excel dito anng mag-iisa. Paolo Genius), Choi Sukyoung (a.k.a. SY), at Marcel King (a.k.a. Marcel simply).

Si Paolo ang pinakamagaling sa seksyon namin, having an over-all grade of almost 44.41 minus the final exam grade (Hes already pre-destined to have a final grade of 4 by the way). A certified genius and  a good baker (he baked a cake for this contest held sometime at the AKIC for El Nuevo Latino). It might be due to the fact that he was a former Biology major in UST thus giving many of us the impression that he is a certified genius in the class (But then again, he might have already took an equivalent subject of Algeb-x in his time in USTe). I kind of see him as a rival in terms of getting higher scores and  leaving class when done.

SY is a Korean student pursuing a course in HRIM. Although she was in the country for quite a number of years now she doesnt have a good hold on her Filipino so she used English as a medium for her to understand the lessons (Ang class naming amdalaes conducted in English para na rin sa kanya). Although language is obviously a big factor for her to catch up along with the rest of the class, she managed to get very impressive scores on seatworks and quizzes. Shes friends with Paolo who often helps her with the lessons. She ranks second-over all just next to him with a  grade ranging from 42-43.

Last but not  the least is the guy who beat me at the slightest of numbers over  our grade rankings (but that can change if I get a good score in our finals). Marcel is my classmate in Reconse thats why I always see him practically everyday. When not in class, hes visible with his barkada in every Benildeans favorite hang-out place, Plaza V (Bora). Hes the silent type so many would kind of see him as a silent killer in terms of getting impressive scores in quizzes and seatworks. Hes the only guy in his barkada during Algeb and Reconse although not necessarily during non-class hours.

By the time we all receive our course cards by weeks end, I predict that I will have a grade no less than 1 but at least good enough for me to finally boost my chances to be in the DL, and that the other three would probably receive a grade of more than 2.5 with Paolo Genius most likely topping us all with a four.

Im no complaining but Im just glad that I will finally be able to ace this subject after more than six long months. Ahhggg, I just want to get on with it para matrapos na ang lahat!

Reality and Dreams: Hiking…Barking…Heavy-Gat!

(April 16, 2008)

2. Barking

So I dreamt that I was in Taft Avenue in front of CSB facing McDonald’s. It was a colorful evening as there was a Mardi Gras-like parade that was happening along Taft.  I think I was part of the parade as I was dressed up in a purple suit and a long hat to go with. Next thing I saw, the whole of Taft was pitch dark and my “eyes” were in “night mode” ala Blair Witch Project. Suddenly, something went over at my back and I turned around surprised to see a stray dog (which somehow looks like one of those K-9 dogs I see at school every morning) placing himself onto me. Its weight is so heavy that I can’t seem to move. The dog’s mouth suddenly begins to bite my head”. One wrong move and I’m dog food as I can’t move my arms freely to rid myself from my dog and run from it.

Luckily a guard or may I say a passerby just passed by me. I called out to him for help. He did came but he looks disappointed. I wondered why. “Humiga ka muna sa sahig…” he said. Thnking that he’s going to help me, I laid myself down to the concrete floor with the dog still pretty much mhugging my whole back. “Buksan mo iyung bibig ng aso at igalaw mo iyon palayo mula sa ulo mo…”, he then said. I want to but I can’t as you can see, alangin ang aking mga braso’t kamay. I tried telling that I can’t but seems like I was unable to speak loudly as being laid on the floor with a heavy dog on my back is even the thought of breathing difficult. I felt like I was having asthma. The weight of the dog I can no longer bear and next thing I knew, I woke up with a fright. I checked the time and it was still too early.

Eeee!

INTENSYON: Ika-7 Kabanata, This Is It!

[Writer's Note: This entry is not meant to inflict any harm to anyone. This is based on true events so anything that you may find may be offensive. If you don't want to continue, don't read from this point on. Sori for the code-switching]

Dumating ako sa school, 2 hours late kasi may previous committment ako some place else. Ignoring them, I saw Ate Carol and "Kuya" Jairus. GuLat ako kasi sila ang lumapit sa'kin, and they both asked me "I thought you were leaving?".

I want to leave the Lipon'. Sorry if I can't say it straight but I want to end things mutually and formally so that there'd be no bad blood between us". "Oh, okay? Well, you can leave now?". Not the kind of answer na gusto kong marinig mula sa kanila pero okay na rin. Humirit nga lang ako kung puwede at least manatili ako sandali just for the sake of leaving the Lipon formally with honor.

Nandun din sina Kuya Rem, Senpai, Rico, (Sir) Luisito, and most of the vets I see during Saturday training sessions as well as my fellow Neodebaters.

Since then, I try to forget that I was ever a member of the Lipon, trying to erase that memory by hiding all of my "Lipon memorabilia" some place in my room.

INTENSYON: Ika-6 na Kabanata, The Art of Backstabbing

[Writer's Note: This entry is not meant to inflict any harm to anyone. This is based on true events so anything that you may find may be offensive. If you don't want to continue, don't read from this point on.]

Over the few months that I was at the Lipon, nalaman ko na may libangan rin pala ang mga Vets na mangasar, in a highly intelligent way. Their sense of humor is too intelligent to understand at all kaya mahirap malaman kung kailan sila seryoso at kung kailan sila hindi.

Backstabbing on the other hand is the Lipon's way of directly condemning someone who experienced a fall out from the group. For example, while you're pretty much still in the Lipon, senior members would befriend you, practically becoming brethren. But once you had at least the thought of leaving the group, they would usually ask you this question "I thought you were leaving?". The same question is applied kapag hindi ka naka-attend ng training even just for a few days (regardless of any reason).

What hurts the most is the COI's among current senior Veterans. They would practically disown you and paving the way for you to leave the Lipon for good. So that's why I see fall outs within the Lipon every so often...

The CSB Experience: What If I Joined the The Team? Part 2

That was around 5:37 in the afternoon (I was timing actually songs I was listening at the time from my I-Pod  while on taking an LRT ride home). So here's how I said to him by text: "Sir..., may interest po akong sumali sa...varsity.

Hehehe! Still I really don't know what to expect na din. But good thing that I no longer have regular classes on the 21st. Just my summer BMAT-2x class to focus on the same day. Hehehehe!

The CSB Experience: From USTe with LUV (The ANIMOfication of the Benildean Thomasians)

Meet Joseph, he is a behavioral science major, a Thomasian 106(my version of the Lasallian batch system applied in CSB), a UST uniform-clad lad and a student of the University of Santo Tomas...then. Today, he is a Hotel, Restaurant and Instituiton Managament student, a 2-termed 107, and my classmate in Algeb-x who wears a long polo.

Meet Monica, a student from UST, and a certified tigasin. Today, she is an HRIM gal and wears a formal attire complete with a black coat. In other days, she wears a Chemlec/chemlab uniform complete with white crocs-like clogs. and yeah, she's my classmate from Algeb-x. She has a friend who is, somehow, a Thomasian as well.

Meet Paolo E., a Biology student, certified math genius and supposedly a 3rd year(?) student from UST. Today, he's also an HRIM student. Seen always with a coat-and-tie attire (formal) in some days and as well as wearing his Chemlec uniform. A classmate of mine in Algeb-x.

Meet Paolo L., an Archicture student from UST, certified Thomasian forever. Today he's a BSBA-CA student (Bachelor of Science and Business Administration in Computer Applications), and still a certified Thomasian at heart. He's also a classmate of mine in Algeb-x.

Meet Paolo C., a UST student, a friend of the abovementioned. Today, he is a student pursuing a course under SDA (School of Design and Arts) and my classmate in Algeb-x.

Meet Angela, a behavioural science major in UST, another supposedly 3rd year Thomasian. Today, she is a formal attire-clas HRIM student currently serving her 2nd term in the school. She's my classmate in Algeb-x.

These are just some of the many Thomasians that I know who became Benildean Transferees. They make up almost the majority of the CSB transfer students, just neck-to-neck with those from La Salle. There are many reasons on why they transferred, it's either 1)"It's hard in UST", 2)"My girlfriend broke up with me in UST", 3)"I can't seem to find the satisfaction I need from UST", etc. These reasons are quite common in other colleges thus the urge to transfer.

Although these classmates of mine had long left USTe and that they pretty much embraced the ANIMOistic Benildean culture, the memories that they made while there are dearly treasured well into their hearts. That's why USTe will always have a special place to their hearts and minds. Paolo L. is more Thomasian of the abovementioned taht's why he talks nothing else but his beloved first school. Hehehe. Hmmm.....

A J-Blog Files Anniversary Special: "Boreche"

"****** Boreche...****** Boreche!".
