A really late post...
I never been invited for an overnight stay with a friend's house for quite sometime now. My first occurred way back early Spring 2002 when I was invited to come overnight with a newly-befriended classmate who was new at the time. I remembered watching baseball, Spongebob Squarepants, and realizations that Milo in Japan is pronounced as "mee-ro" or "mee-lo".
Fast forward to seven years, I felt like history was repeating itself when me and some old high school friends were invited by Jeco to his newly-built house in Paco, Manila 1007.
New place, new neighbours, new zip code.
I. Compass
Lucky for me, the day of his house blessing coincided with the last day of my NSTPCWS immersion in Baseco Compound. After the immersion, I went straight there. It didn't take me long to find the place because he already gave me the address of the house, I just had to know where to find it.
And find it I did. I just relied on my good senses, I was able to locate the place.
Too bad, there was one missed detail...I was supposed to be there around 5pm, I got there as early as 2 in the afternoon. Hehehe!
II. N2N
I was given a tour of Jerico's new hang out, in addition to meeting his numerous guests. His room is spacious with its own bathroom, balcony, and lighting system (Yabang!). Not much furniture around but a PC was already installed in a new computer table/tocador.
Interesting part of the tour are the "tourists"...The many nieces and nephews, etc of my good friend. Comes to show that we're not getting any younger, even if we're only 18/19.
III. Tour de Manila Redux
Another bout of "tour de Manila" fever got me sightseeing with previously unexplored areas of Manila. I finally saw Paco Park, those 50's-60's style houses, art deco architecture, dilapidated old grandeurs, and colleges and universities like Colegio de Sta. Isabel, Adamson, TUP, and PNU.
After been a constant reader of Paolo Alcazaren's column in the Philippine Star for quite sometime now, I grew to love and pity the city that we call as Manila.
IV. D' Pick-Up Na U. Sakay N Me
Jeco and I went to Malabon to pick up what's left in the guestlist. Let's say there was some minor communication problems that had us guessing in our toes, and there's no more a need to have it elaborated hehehehe (as requested).
We got Mark, Chamy, Yoko, and MR. Raymond couldn't come but says he'll make up by going to "my" sleepover party. I wonder...(I'm all alone in the house next week while the family's away for vacation up north. Would that be a possibility?)
Janelle, Ria, and Dianne went to the prime destination earlier than the host and his band of pick-up boys and girls.
V. Videoke Night
Here come's the fun part...
The guest were served with JaPinoy cuisine, Redhorse Beer (one cup for me!), and plain water. Jeco seemed by that time already tense though. Plus, we got the home entertainment system to us HS buds.
We sang as many songs as we could, to emotionally-charged songs to songs with always-mentioned terms. One had a drink too many, and many opted to go home instead of staying here for the night. One already was given the greenlight while another seems forced to make a fateful decisions.
VI. The Edge of Night
Me, Yoko and and Janelle stayed at jeco's house for the night. What's left in the nighttime hours, we spend it on pure chatter, rumors, confessions, and deep dark secrets. I forgot who made the first say but I was forced to watch a movie called "Twilight". But after 20 minutes, we called it quits.
Around 2 am, we finally got ourselves to sleep.
VII. The Guiding Light
I felt a little unwell sometime after the party. At the glimpse of sunset, I was already awake but still a bit sleepy. No thanks to someone who's getting the bigger share of the blanket hehehe. I finally got the sleep I needed when I made myself company to a lofty sofa...at 7 in the morning.
VIII. As the World Turns
A Sunday, Jeco and his guests were treated with some breakfast. The guest were pretty much thankful for his parents for being very accomadating. We friends went to Mass at the Stella Maris Center in Paco and, brought by my mom's request, we went to MOA for some grub.
By the time, I got to where my family is having lunch, me and my friends finally parted ways.
I must say, this is one of the most memorable moments I'll always going to cherish. Sorry for being a wee bit self-centered, but I realized that I'm not always alone by myself when I have friends around to help me stand up :D.
