Hoogie Was Right, There Were Flashbacks (The Soap Opera Addict in Me)

    Hoogie was right, there were flashbacks. I meant to say that my mom's favorite tearjerker is "Maging Sino Ka Man" whose Friday episode last Feb. 29 ended with a bang, literally. Bing Pimentel's character, Monique Madrigal, was gunned to death, sacrificing her life to Fidel (played by Christopher de Leon), who was in a shooting duel with Mateo/Samuel (played by Philip Salvador).

    The succeeding episode shows Mateo, unconscious after a bullet slightly wounded his head, was awaken by flashbacks of what really happened" Monique was there to convince the two big fat angry men to stop from what the're doing but things got out of control. Each guy both fired a shot, one of them fatally falling her. Unsure of who did it, our main heroes don't know what they can do to comfort a grieving Jackie.

    Grabeh, the whole episode really had me in tears. It is but rare for me to shed tears because of a show I'm religiously following. The other times I cried for a soap was when I watched Sana Maulit Muli, Natutulog Ba ANg Diyos, and Mga Anghel na Walang Langit. Boy, that was fun!

    The first time I watched a soap, I was 4 years old. I could remember my nannies watching an epsiode of Mara Clara, with Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes. Soon after, I got hooked from my nannies obsessions and began to follow these shows as well. Among them are: Esperanza, Sa Dulo ng walang Hanggan, Te Amo, Saan ka Man Naroroon, Sa Piling Mo, Ikaw ang Lahat Sa Akin, etc.

    I don't know why but I think, I'm an addict. I closely follow soaps as if I'd die if I don't. Notice that the soaps I've mentioned are mostly from ABS-CBN. It's because Ch. 2 is still the best when it comes to good drama sproductions. I guess, their main weakness are fantasy series, unnecessary extensions, and loopholes along the way (does untalented leads count?).
