It all started when I was still taking pictures of major school events since 3rd Year high school. Even though I'm not the official photographer of the school paper nor was I the chief school documentarian. It was just a hobby gone wild really. Next thing I knew I was making movies out of the pictures that I took. Well, hindi nga saktong 3rd Year, simula pa noong Intrams namin nung Grade 6 pa, gamit ang Olympus camera na de-film ng mommy ko. Then not only ws I making movies, I even started posting them on Youtube starting with my first Jamer movie "Noli Me Tangere: Sisa". Ahhh!
Now, then came my senior year. These two batchmates that I know have with them a new Canon DSLR (well one of them has a Canon model, the other I'm not sure yet). I got jealous because they take better shots than me. Other than the fact that the digicam that I was using was not keen on quality, it made me look so inferior to theirs. And that is how it began my hatred towards DLSR-possesing peeps.
Hindi naman kapag galit ako sa kanila eh di ko sila kakausapin, it's just that I have this feeling that something that I actually like is being taken away from me. Removing the reason why I like taking pictures. Digital photography, I feel is the thing for me and it is the reason why I pursued my MMA course. My hobby for digital photography had me branched out to making slideshow movies and eventually using a little creativity made making these kind of movies a little less dull (even my moviemaking skill was looked down and frowned upon by one the guys I was telling you about).
Now, I joined this org for MMA majors. And I see a lot of people who use DLSRs and it made me even more miserable and felt more inferior. What's up with that? Maybe I have an inferiority complex, I don't know. Nakakainggit lang siguro ang makita na may taong mas magaling sa'kin o kaya mas adept sa piniling propesyon. I also want to take pictures that are out of this world and is 100% quality-rrific.
Talk about DLSRs, these gadgets are truly expensive. My initial price guess was that they cost around 15k to 20k+ but they actually cost more than that! There was also this guy in CSb who was selling a second-hand DLSR, I aksed for the price and I was shocked that his so-called "cheap and affordable" price offer is way out of my wallet's reach! I can't believe he's selling a second-hand camera with a price that could make you think that it's still brand new but WHAT THE HOW!?
I don't expect my parents to buy me one, considering their modest incomes as government employees. I can't even save money to buy one, what for Php 500+ a week, it could actually be the death of me. So how I wish for me 17th birthday that someone would give me a DSLR as a present but I'm not expecting too much. So nangangarap lang.
WAKAS
I wasn't serious when I wrote the title "I Hate People with DSLRs". It's not literally true, ok?
ReplyDeleteDon't take this the wrong way ok? I envy you guyz and don't take the title too literal! :):):):)
ReplyDeleteD-SLR's cost around 50thou, lenses can go as much as 100thou- 'proves that Photography is luxury.
