Reality and Dreams: Recurring

I was listening to this late night program last night before I went to sleep. The host's topic for the day was about "recurring dreams". Recurring dreams are dreams which occurs/seemingly repeated in your sleep.

Curious, I decided to tune in for at least an hour and a half to know about this particular type of dreams. The DJ stressed that certain details in a dream are representations and/or manifestation of our personalities, our fears, our childhood nightmares, our anxieties and the like. it has something to do with our ids, which (being our conscience deep within) try to tell us something through the things we see in our dreams. They continue to appear until we are able to fully understand what they meant to us.

There's this one dream that occurred to me more than twice but it happened once a year. I dreamt that I was in a resort (more likely Grotto Vista). It wasn't no coincidence knowing that I was really excited for the annual family trip to a resort the following day.

The DJ said that the presence of water in a dream represents our fears, inhibitions, and long forgotten memories that try to resurface via dreams. Indeed, if you are in a state that you are aware of what you're dreaming about even if you're in sleep mode, you may be able to observe themes, objects, and other manifestations that continually appear in every dream you have.

I wonder if he could provide an explanation as to why some people have premonitions in their dreams like me.
