Insidente #1: Mabini St. en route to Roxas Boulevard (December 2007)

  2. Easier said than done. Sige nga, can you give me a logical, ethical and intellectual solution to this problem?

Hehehe.

Remember these words "Let me be the change that I want to see to do with strength and wisdom. All That Needs to be done and become the hope that I can be".

Be our own little change, use our civil rights to make our LGU's address this problem...force the DSWD to do their job on gathering beggars and have them stay at the Fabella Homes (try to watch Global Destiny's MMDAtv) and make them productive citizens by offering vocational and liveliood courses.

  4. Once again, it's easier said than done. ^_^

I can say to you that I've been living an unconventional life far from the accustomed "bad part" of the Filipino culture for years. I'd say nothing has changed at all. Everybody's the same.

Now tell us, blog readers of yours, about the change you have implemented on your life that can support your premise, when in fact at the lowest kind of change, you still sport that 2x3" haircut look you've had since God knows when?

    ^_^

  5. Again, how can you, a normal MMA-CSB student make the LAZY local LGU people work, when even the large rallyist groups can't?

Make them productive? Yeah we could teach them vocational and livelihood courses, yeah, yeah. But the thing is, the minimum wage here in the Philippines is driving investors away and they rather invest on other countries who have, what, say $3 or less for a pay per day. So where could these people, whom you say you plan to educate by offering them minimum-wage-courses, go to after their short-term course? And with zero business knowledge, I'd say after a few months, you'd be back picking them off the streets.

    ^_^

  8. This is all check and balance. From the POV of a networking company, they say that Filipino wage earners must save at least Php 2-3 million to live a financially stable life which is difficult to achieve given that despite the large tax collections received by the government, citizens are not being paid back in a progressive way (Better services like health, education and the like). The wealth trickles to the majority of Filipinos because most of the money earned ends up in the pockets of corrupt government officials (which my mom is falsely accused of).

The question is...Why is corruption still rampant? In my opinion, it's because people let corruption exist and flourish that's why it has grown to become a huge weed difficult to remove as its roots grow deeper into the society as a whole. Pinoys' "bahala na" attitude prevent us to do what should be done to condone these officials as well as ringing the ears of our so-called "statesmen" who more often not engaged in accusing each other of nonsense. Them and their teleserye-like dialogues.

As an MMA student of CSB? Hmmm..maybe I could make change by having to make documentaries which showcase the problems lingering within the jurisdiction of our LGU people. Or even make an intellectual animated satire that, in a way, tries urging them to do more than what they are doing now.

Plus, the Filipino psyche itself must undergo rapid change for the better. We are usually misinformed or even not informed at all about the policies implemented by the government that's why we all tend to be biased. We yap and yap yet they don't know what they're talking about. Jeepney drivers want a continuous rollback on gasoline prices which unknown to them could lead to the bankruptcy of the Big Three even as much as we hate them for taking advantage of the Oil Deregulation Law of 1998.

Jeco, remember about your thoughts regarding the parliamentary and federalist systems of government back in high school? Popular opinion suggests that having a parliamentary would effectively prolong the term of a president/prime minister which is not necessarily true. Generally, a prime minister is elected by a vote of confidence coming from the parliament whose members are not necessarily elected directly by the people but by having their respective political parties win seats in parliament through popular vote. Federalism enables the provinces to become self-governing states enjoined by an association very much like the US. The highest political office is not won through direct popular vote either but by having the most number of states who, in majority, voted for one presidential candidate. Don't tell me you don't know that.

The reason a lot of people don't want a parliamentary form of government because of the Marcos dictatorship. In truth, the batasang pambansa failed to function itself truly as a parliamentary body because it was a puppet government which was formed and orchestrated soley by Marcos thus the batasan cannot remove him in office.

So don't watch less of 24 Oras and TV Patrol, less Bandila, One Morning, and Saksi and more of The World Tonight and The Evening News, plus more of Newswatch and the BBC.

  10. Nasa tao naman kasi talaga ang pagbabago. People Power kumbaga.

  11. Yes, the Filipino wage earners must save such amount, but how can they even earn such, when they, without their knowledge due to probably their slight incompetence in Economics, KILL their source of livelihood by asking for a wage increase?

  12. Oh c'mon. GMA7 has been doing documentaries for decades. There was even a documentary program showcased in a lesser known local TV channel which I can't recall anymore. But NONE of them has made the whole population act as ONE. Would you be of any difference? Prove it. =)

  18. You're referring to "Dokyu" from ABC-5. New season will air very soon on TV5.

GMA usually do these documentaries so that they could submitted them to international film fests so the could garner awads and show them off so they could persuade people that they are the best. They seldom submit their works to these filmfest though pero they still show them as it is.

I'm more attracted to dokyus produced by the news team of ABC-5/TV5. They have a different approach of exposing our society. Do try watch them on Ch. 5 instead of dismissing them as a "lesser known channel".

  19. Education is indeed the true key to our country's salvation but what hampers Philippine education is the lack of support it get from both the government and the masses. Usually a fifth or a sixth of the national budget are allocated to education, a far cry to the kind of allocation given to them several decades ago wherein the public school was then an emerging symbol of development and progress of national identity and conciousness. In the provinces, children from agricultural-based household are being stopped from their schooling by their parents because of their belief that it is enough that a child learns how to read and write so that they could help their parents manage the family farm, despite the god fact that with education would their children be truly able to help their parent more than just simply manage.

  20. It will happen sooner or later. All we need now is to wait for the weeds in Congress to die out and prevent their seedlings to take root after them. Plus improve the quality of education so that many would get the chance to go to college and become vital factors for national development.

  23. Haha! As an advertising/marketing student, I have a reason for calling them a "lesser known channel". I am happy though that at last, they've revamped and re-brand the old and rusty channel 5.

I'm quite surprised to see a tagalog version of Nick's hit "Spongebob square pants" late afternoon today, which I think is a good move to invite young viewers who don't understand the English language that thorough yet.
